Healthcare Reform: Models of Care

Does the US Military's healthcare system (government run healthcare system) work with satisfactory financial results and quality care for patients? Could this be used as a model of care for a public healthcare plan, or could the Medicare and Medicaid system be restructured to work as a possible public healthcare plan? How would we do this? What works in other countries, and are those patients and governments happy with the outcomes and costs?

  1. Hi Wendy, Yes, I believe the government healthcare programs that are already in place can be used as models for a public healthcare plan. I know you always hear lots of complaints about Veterans and Medicare healthcare, but I also hear lots of positive feedback about these programs. They are taken for granted and surely better than no coverage at all. I think these programs can be improved and expanded to cover everyone with quality care. We spend trillions of dollars on war; why not spend billions on public healthcare and wellness.
