I'm thinking of researching the use of aromatherapy with patients in clinical settings. Another topic I have considered is health benefits/risks associated with red wine consumption. Another topic I have been interested in researching is social anxiety and alcohol use in college students. I think I'm leaning towards aromatherapy. What do you think?

Hey Wendy!! I like all your topics, i especially like the one about anxiety and alcohol use in college students. I feel like some kids, not all, lose so much when they first get into college due to this. I also like the aromatherapy one. Great pics also.. i miss Oahu i just moved form there. i lived there for 2 years, its so beautiful, im going back to visit my fiance end of next month!! When did you go... where did you stay and did you love it!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy,
ReplyDeleteI like the Aromatherapy topic actually. I used to be able to buy my favorite scent at Bath & Body, but they do not carry it anymore. While visiting my daughter here in Memphis, I found Maggie's Pharm where she was able to mix the two oils for me. So, I now carry a vial of Bergamot/Coriander. This combination has the ability to fill me full of good cheer and self esteem like no other scent. When I applied it in the car one day, all three of my daughters had to have some. People comment on it all the time. My daughters grew lavendar this year in abundance and have it hanging everywhere. Lavendar is calming, while my bergamot/coriander is energizing.
I definitely think aromatherapy has real therapeutic value, and other smells can have negative effects on our health and mood, like cigarette smoke is really disgusting to me these days, especially that stale smell that lingers on your clothes.

ReplyDeleteI think that you should study social anxiety disorder/Social phobia. After being diagnosed with the disorder, living with it, being a full time college student is not an easy task. I think if more people were educated on this subject colleges could possibly be more accomodating for these types of disorders.
Also, it can coincide with the abuse of alcohol. It could be possible that the abuse of alcohol is prevalent amoung college students is because they use it as a way to self-medicate. Anxiety disorders are more common than most tend to believe and my guess is that the abuse of alcohol with the disorder is very closely correlated.
So, definatly it would be something to look into. You could kill two-birds with a stone with this one.
