Having the Best Mid-life Crisis!!

One summer day not long ago, I sat with my husband to relax and we were reminiscing of the years we've been through together and the busy lives we have. I took a deep breath and looked back at my life that passed so quickly before my eyes. Now what? I've devoted my life to my family, made many friends, worked hard, have had good times and bad. It has gone by so fast! I would not change a thing, nor regret any decisions. Even in the hardest of times I have been blessed in some way. I ask myself if I've made a difference in the world. What can I do to enrich my life more than it has already been? Have I helped everyone that I could have helped? Is there something more that I am suppose to do? Have I shown gratitude to those who have helped me along the way? How do I find out and which direction do I go from here?

I pondered my thoughts and then realized that I could answer all of these questions and fulfill my feelings of having left any of these things undone by simply looking at my past, present and future.

My past has taught me that I've learned the most about myself and became who I am through the people I have met and befriended, by having persevered through the hardest of times, staying focused on my beliefs, my faith and believing in my own power and determination to accomplish things.

My present shows me that I have come far, I am strong, I am caring and have a strong passion for helping others. I also have a never-ending thirst for knowledge and always look for the answers to all of my questions and everyone elses questions. I realize that the more I learn the farther down the road on the journey of life I get; but yet to find another path? If the road seems to stop, I will find another path to take, or I will build a bridge.

My future lies in keeping healthy, continuing my education and career working in the healthcare field to impact the lives of patients and families who endure many battles they face with their diseases. I will try to enrich their lives in a positive way, both emotionally and physically. I will let people know I care and understand. I will be someone that people remember, even if they don't remember my name.

How will I do this? I have hard-working hands, a caring heart and a mind capable of taking me on the rest of my journey in life. My education and passion will be the key and the best tool to help me achieve all of the things that I want to do. I'm happy with these thoughts... what a great mid-life crisis!!

  2. Hello Wendy,

You should be so proud of your beautiful family. They look like a great bunch. Truly, children and their friends are a true blessing. I am connected with so many of my childrens' friends still by email and Face book after my kids have been gone for years. My parents "raised" so many kids after I left home, many of whom stayed in touch with them for many years after they retired. A family network like this is such a treasure.

Your home looks like a picture postcard, idyllic. I know of course looks can be deceiving, but it really does look so inviting.

It makes me homesick for the mountains.
